Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are placed on the front of your teeth. Used to fix chips and cracks, veneers can also be used to lengthen or shorten teeth, fix worn teeth or brighten teeth that cannot be whitened with professional tooth whitening products.

Porcelain veneers are permanent, as a portion of the natural tooth needs to be removed to make way for the veneer. When proper care is taken, porcelain veneers can last for a decade or more, but may need to be repaired or replaced.

During your appointment, Dr. J Craig Alexander will make an impression so that the lab can make the veneers that will fit your teeth. A color will be chosen so that the porcelain veneers match the rest of your smile. Once your veneers are ready, the teeth will be prepared with a liquid and bonding material before the veneers are placed.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding

Bonding is a cosmetic dental procedure that your East Greenbush Dentist uses to fix your smile. Cosmetic dental bonding is used to lengthen or shorten teeth, fix chips and cracks, whiten teeth that cannot be helped with tooth whitening, and sometimes to fill in a small gap between teeth. The composite resin can also be used to fill cavities.

During the bonding process Dr. J Craig Alexander will choose a color for the bonding material that matches the rest of your tooth or teeth. Once the color has been chosen, your teeth will be etched before a liquid is placed on the tooth or teeth. This strengthens the bonding process.

After the etching, the cosmetic resin will be applied to the tooth or teeth before sculpting into place. Once satisfied, your East Greenbush Dentist will harden or cure the resin with a light or laser.
